Why did you join Radio Dacorum?
I’m part of the European Projects Team at Community Action Dacorum and often interview our many interesting visitors from overseas on Radio Dacorum. The opportunity came up to host What’s On In Dacorum and I decided it was a great way to get more involved in Radio Dacorum and at the same time, learn more about what is happening in the borough. And as I’ve discovered … there’s a lot going on!
Your favourite places in Dacorum?
Ivinghoe Beacon for the views and Ashridge for ever-changing colours. We are so lucky to have them on our doorstep.
Given a free rein, I’d play contemporary jazz or anything by Pat Metheny, the Esbjorn Svensson Trio or Snarky Puppy. A bit of Miles Davis never goes amiss, either! I also love the joyful, exuberant music from West Africa, especially from Mali and Senegal. Just thinking about the gigs I've been to by Toumani Diabate and Salif Keita makes me smile.
I’ve been a huge Tom Stoppard fan ever since I was involved in a youth theatre production of The Real Inspector Hound (many years ago!) There are few who can match his verbal gymnastics and twisted logic.
Travel. I’m lucky to have visited China twice and would love to explore more. Closer to home, I’m often to be found on my allotment… it’s the ultimate relaxation. There’s nothing like nurturing seedlings, watching them grow into healthy vegetables - and then eating them of course.
