Hello, I'm Marc otherwise known as Gatsby.
Into the weekend features music for soul boys and girls with occasional guest interviews drawn from the artistic community - musicians, writers, fashion designers, film makers. Expect to hear classic Soul, Funk and Acid Jazz and the not so obvious cuts from the likes of The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, Massive Attack, Groove Armada, Roy Ayers, 4Hero, Submotion Orchestra, Stevie Wonder, the Undisputed Truth, Working Week, The Room, Richard Hawley and much much more. Oh, and Radiohead. And Bowie. And Roxy Music… And the best of new music. Get in touch with your soul. And Party. The Red Room Sessions offers local and visiting musicians a dedicated 2 hour show showcasing their music with a (usually) acoustic live set and interview. The set is typically for 45 minutes of original music with some choice covers thrown in for good measure.
THE PURPLE PALACE SESSIONS - MONDAYS 10PM - 12AM
INTO THE WEEKEND WITH GATSBY - FRIDAYS 2PM - 5PM
Why are you called Gatsby?
The legendary Gatsby was the ultimate decadent party host, surrounded by beautiful women and expensive champagnes. My friends call me that - somewhat ironically as I try to pursue a champagne lifestyle on a beer budget.
What is your favourite film?
The Great Gatsby. No, only joking though it is a great movie. I love big visual pictures like Lawrence of Arabia, Ran, Apocalypse Now and Aguirre Wrath of God. And Bladerunner. And the Godfather. How do you choose a favourite?
What is your favourite Restaurant?
The Gatsby in Berkhamsted. No, not really (sorry guy’s) but it is good. I love Asian fusion food. My favourite place to eat though is at home in a wooden gazebo in our back garden.
What are your Passions?
Music, obviously. Culture in its broadest sense. Writing (I'm sure I have a good book in me somewhere). And I'm trying to work up a passion for a healthy lifestyle. How very un- Gatsby!
If there is one person you could be for a day who would it be?
It would be a blast to perform live. So any musician. Maybe Thom Yorke of Radiohead when consumed by his music. Or possibly The Great Gatsby himself. Just being ironic!
